William Edgar McCulloh – (1866 – 1938)

William Edgar McCulloh

William Edgar McCulloh is the son of Amos McCulloh and Hannah Humbert. He was born on October 18, 1866 in a log cabin on Mount Parnell lust east of Fort Loudon, Pennsylvania. On October 4, 1888 he married Mary Ellen Sweigert in Whiteside County, Illinois. After her death in 1892 he married Maria Gsell Longanecker on December 4, 1894. At the age of 71 he died of a sudden heart attack. His son Charles McCulloh described the event in 1989: “Papa died May 26, 1938, on the way home from a visit to his doctor in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Our brother-in-law, Guy H. Van Dyke, was driving the car. He said that as they came to the toll booth on Market Street Papa said, ‘I guess I had better get this man his nickel’ and he reached into his vest pocket for the nickel, had the attack, and died.” He is buried in the Crossroads Brethren In Christ Church Graveyard in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania.
